- Marquettes D. Robinson - Shareholder

Marquettes is a civil litigator with a wide range of experience both prosecuting and defending complex cases. She has represented corporations and individuals in contract disputes, business torts, employment claims, professional liability actions, consumer lending and creditor’s rights cases, and product liability and toxic tort litigation. Marquettes has class action experience that includes success in obtaining class certification, defeating class certification, and brokering class-wide settlements. Marquettes has litigated in both state and federal courts at the trial and appellate levels. She has extensive arbitration and mediation experience, including enforcing arbitration agreements and awards.

Marquettes graduated cum laude from Harvard University with a Bachelor of Arts in Government. Marquettes received her J.D. from Harvard Law School. In 2007, Marquettes was inducted into Kaleidoscope Magazine’s Forty/Forty Club that annually recognizes emerging leaders in Cleveland’s African-American community.

• In re Com. Money Cen., Inc. Equip Lease Lit., Case No. 1:02 CV 16000 (N.D. OH). Counsel for national bank in suit to recover $14 million in damages arising out of breach of surety bonds.
• McPeak v. Ernst & Young, LLP, Case No. 05-Cl-455 and related cases (Kentucky). Counsel for accounting firm in professional negligence suit brought by insurance commissioner as rehabilitator of self-insured workers’ compensation fund.
• McCarthy, et al. v. Ernst & Young, LLP, Case No. 1998 CV 00283 and related cases (Ohio). Counsel for accounting firm in professional negligence suit brought by shareholders of defunct corporation arising out of corporation’s fraudulent use of “bill and hold” sales.
• Cisco Systems, Inc. v. Goodman, Weiss Miller LLP, Case No. 05-CV-2996 (N.D. OH). Counsel for law firm in professional negligence suit arising out of a merger in which the plaintiff claimed that a success fee had not been properly disclosed by the target company.
• Waterloo Coal Co. v. Komatsu Mining Sys., Inc., Case No. CV 03-553 (S.D. OH). Counsel for international construction equipment manufacturer in suit brought by Ohio mining company alleging breach of warranty and damages arising from an allegedly malfunctioning mining excavator.
• OHA v. Dept. of Human Servc., No. 99-01233, 04 AP 0762 (Ohio). Counsel for class of more than 150 hospitals and health systems in suit against the State arising from State’s failure to pay medical bills incurred by Medicaid patients.
• LTC Risk Management, LLC v. Neace & Assoc. Ins. Agency of Ohio, No. 03-516223 (Ohio). Counsel for insurance company in suit brought by competitor alleging theft of trade secrets and unfair competition.
