- Maureen P. Tracey - Of Counsel

     Maureen has more than ten years of experience representing business clients in litigation involving a wide array of complex legal issues, including fraud, breach of contract, deceptive trade practices, lender liability, tortious interference claims and copyright and trademark infringement.  She also has significant experience with all aspects of media and advertising law, including defamation and privacy issues, FTC and FCC regulations, and public records matters, and has litigated a number of high-profile First Amendment cases.  In addition, Maureen has extensive experience with appeals in both state and federal courts.

Her notable experience includes:

  • Successfully defending a talk radio station in a high profile defamation action filed by a professional football player
  • Litigating a First Amendment/retaliation action against the mayor of a large Ohio city for issuing edict prohibiting city employees from speaking with the local newspaper
  • Securing an opinion from the Supreme Court of Ohio upholding the confidentiality of patient medical records and preventing plaintiffs and their attorneys from discovering personal medical information about third parties not involved in litigation
  • Securing media access to search warrants in a highly publicized murder investigation in a city in California

     Maureen has given seminar presentations on topics including electronic media law, invasion of privacy torts, defamation and advertising law.  She received her J.D. magna cum laude from The Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law where she was a member of the Order of the Coif and Research Editor for the Ohio State Law Journal.  Additionally, Maureen graduated cum laude from Miami University.
